Reviews
This is review is only for the cafe within Cambo estate. Visited for the first time and to be honest it was a frustrating and disappointing experience. The staff are beyond useless. We were ignored for 10-15min while we sat at a table after being advised someone would be over to take our order. No menus provided. Eventually had to go up to the counter and order. Watched as other customers were seated, provided with menus, water for the table and orders taken.
Far too expensive for what you get. Soup and a scone £7.95 albeit, both were flavoursome. The building is absolutely freezing so wear a jacket!
Doubt i’ll be back to the cafe but grounds/gardens are excellent and staff in the shop are lovely.
Attended a wedding here, the venue is a typical old stately home, bit dusty and dark, the library is bright and was lovely for the ceremony, however, many of the other areas were not accessible for anyone with mobility issues. Multiple sets of stairs, uneven flooring, dark passages and so cold. The courtyard where the meal was served and the dancing after was so cold the staff offered blankets to guests. There were multiple other rooms that could of housed the guests for the meal which were warm yet these were not used as an option. The caterer admitted that it was extremely difficult to serve hot food in such an environment, that doesn't surprise me as the area was unheated, a space heater could of taken the chill off and made it a far better environment. In the upper level of the house where guests were for drinks and coffees there was 1 toilet, apparently there was other toilets but these were outside down several sets of uneven stone stairs, not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. The evening dancing was held in the Courtyard, a cobbled area, rugs were placed over the cobbles, good idea to attempt to level the ground, however, as the surface was uneven the rug edges became potential trip hazards, again several steps had to be traversed to reach the Courtyard. There was no alternative accesses. Over all the venue is OK for able bodied fit people, for older people with any mobility or sight issues id advise to stay away. Dark corridors and tricky stairs don't bode well.
Great place to visit, lovely walk through the woods down to the beach. Walled gardens are wonderful.
Having worked at the venue previously I can safely say the location is stunning and the building is beautiful, has a great party space for evening receptions and the staff are very friendly. Looking forward to my next visit :)
One of the most beautiful wedding venues in Fife, Scotland. I had the pleasure to photograph there the styled photo shoot recently and the whole process from the very beginning till the end was amazing. The staff was there and helped me every time I needed. The interiors are simply beautiful, unique and full of opportunities for the artistic photos. There are plenty of spots with an easy access for the couples portraits outdoor as well.
Definitely a difficult climb. Please don’t wear sandals doing this climb. I saw lots of people do it but it is not safe and you’re being silly to do so. There’s rope for most of the climb up and you will need it. It’s a great view at the top but I didn’t feel to safe up there just as nature can be. So many people come up here daily too so that adds to me not feeling safe as I see people shuffling around trying to get photos.
The hardest part of the climb is the heat too. Because it’s already rather challenging to climb up with the rope, the heat makes it even harder.
What I also am not a massive fan of is the entrance fee.
I have no problem paying to go see things but this I’m unsure who is actually receiving the money for us to go up.. I’d like more clarity at the payment station to know who the money is going to… so I know why it is necessary to pay this.
This is one of my favourite places in the world. The staff in the cafe cannot do enough for you, always so courteous and really friendly. Very apologetic about a wee bit of a wait for food, we didn’t mind as we had been told in advance and could see it was extremely busy but still they were so lovely about it. The food is second to none. I think it was the manager I saw approach a couple with a dog and ask if he needed any water as it was such a hot day … the grounds are beautiful and so peaceful. My children especially love the little wooden kitchen and play area and of course the fairy trail. If I ever get married it will be here. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Out with the Cafe staff, the rest of the staff are just so lovely and they always have a smile on their face. Will be back again and again x
We’ve filmed weddings at Cambo Estate a few times over the years and love it, the location speaks for itself with beautiful photo spots easily accessible. The service and staff are great, really attentive whenever we need anything even as a supplier, we are made to feel special, and the food is great. Looking forward to our next visit.
